A Romantic 1930's Black Swan Gown...
Design - This dress was designed during the resurgence of the romantic southern belle following the wildly popular movie "Gone With the Wind." A number of voluptuous, sheer chiffon gowns made there way into the fashion world in the very late 1930s and very early 1940's trying to mimic the popular "romantic" look perpetuated by the character Scarlett O'Hara.
This gown is full and flowing, silky and utterly romantic. It features an off the shoulder design with built in shoulder straps, a large overlay ruffle trimmed with a thin line of intricate black lace. It is loosely fitted at the waist, but then flows out into a full swirling, moving skirt. The chiffon is sheer and can also be worn with a long black slip. It also features a 1/2" band made of a black plum satin on the bust of the overlay and is fitted using a side zipper.
