Davy Crockett Dreems of Love...

Design - This is a very scarce piece gracefully designed during the Davy Crockett craze of the 1950s. Made popular by the television show, every boy in town had to sport a coonskin cap until the price of raccoon fur sky rocketed due to demand. My guess is that this is when designers thought to include a higher end version for females in the collective mix.

This cap features mink fur that has been angularly designed to fit more like a military garrison hat that the puffy caps with tails that the boys and men of the era were wearing. The hat comes to a point on the back of the head where it meets the full raccoon tail.
