1930's feedsack dress in red, white and blue plaid or trellis style patterning, Depression Era Beauty, M - LG

A Red White & Blue Feedsack Dreem...

Design - Such a darling dress in a simple but lovely design from the depression era. It features a novelty print, layered trellis design feedsack fabric with a sailor style navy blue and white collar, where two vintage buttons stand out on the navy blue. A small keyhole snap rests just beneath the collar. A navy blue piping makes a half square on each side of the chest and the material it surrounds is gathered just over the bust. The sleeves are sweet puff sleeves with cuffs. The style of the dress is a slight A- Line but it is meant to be worn with a belt originally which would change the shape to a more fitted waist. Two 1/2" pleats run down the front half the skirt. A darling depression era dress

Material - feedsack.

Maker - As with the majority of truly original feedsack dresses there is no makers mark. The women of the era were, by necessity, expert seamstresses and designers often creating patterns from their imaginations using old news paper. This maker, most likely, awaiting the arrival and emptying of new feedsacks before she washed them and put them together to create a new garment.

Condition - This dress is in good vintage condition. The feedsack material has good coloring there is a slight over all fade to the navy blue material on the collar, meaning it does not look new. It is missing it's original belt, but any navy, blue or white belt would work wonderfully. It comes to you in clean ready-to-wear condition.
