Viva La 1950s Guatemalan Fashionista
Design - This is a gorgeous 1950s tourist set from Mayan Modern. It features a full circle skirt and blouse with a sturdy hand woven teal and black cotton (almost giving it a sharkskin look)with accents of gold. The top is fitted with a square neckline and covered buttons down the front. The gold and black accent striping, crisscrosses on the collar and can also be found on the cuff of the raglan sleeves. The skirt features the gold and black striping throughout with a thicker band making a Guatemalan type patterning in gold that meets on the front. A gorgeous color combination. So vibrant and feminine. Perfecto!
Material - handwoven cotton
Maker - "Mayan Moderns - Hand woven in Guatemala" Mayan Moderns was carried exclusively in Mid Century Disneyland and was brought in to appease the Mexican and Latin tourist or souvenir fashion trend of the era.
